SHIGEKUNI(1) GEN-WA (f: TEGAI KANESADA): KII Province. MONJU-KUROSABURO. Late TEGAI School. Younger brother of KANEKUNI. Made sword for IYEYASU when he was at SHIZUOKA before he moved to EDO for which he received 60 KOKU. Became attend KAJI under KISHU YORINOBU and followed him into WAKAYAMA, GENWA GONEN, 1619. Worked at KII to KANEI SHICHINEN, 1630, making long sword, SHINOGI-TSUKURI WAKIZASHI, DAMBIRA and TANTO. First period we see wide blades to O-KIISAKI. later, we see CHU-KISSAKI. Long swords with raised SHINOGI- TAKA and wide SHINOGI-HABA are in the YAMATO KAJI tradition. His DAMBIRA are wide, thick blades. Works are strongly SAKIZORI. ITAME with MASAME HADA stands strongly. We'll see KO-ITAME with JI-NIE and CHIKEI. HAMON is SUGUHA and NIJUBA, and KUICHIGAI BA, YAMATO style. KO-MIDADE of GUNOME with SUNGASHI and KINSUJI in YAMATO style works.
