stretched. Perhaps, like the Emperors, they're long-
lived. Early-KAMAKURA TACHI SUGATA. Standing KO-ITAME has
JI-NIE. NIE KO-MIDARE of KO-CHOJI BA with ASHI. Shallow
KURIJIRI on thin NAKAGO. Well seated, squared and angular
strokes to a large MEI above the ANA.

NARIKANE NIN-PYO (f: TAKATSUNA): From TEN-EI 1110. O-HADA in
ITAME has JI-NIE. KINSUJI in KO-NIE CHOJI KO-MIDARE BA
with ASHI.

AKIZANE SHO-KYU (f: NARIKANE): Twenty-four GOBAN - 8th month.
ITAME HADA. NIOI O-CHOJI KO-MIDARE BA. See ICHIMONJI.

Narrow KO-KISSAKI, KOSHIZORI, FUNBARI TACHI where the
upper straightens. CHIKEI furrows standing KO-ITAME with
O-HADA that has JI-NIE. KINSUJI knifes a NIE KO-MIDARE of
KO-CHOJI BA defined of ASHI. MIDARE BOSHI.
KANEHIRA KA-ROKU (f: TAKAKANE): Late HEIAN to early KAMAKURA.
Varied style purvey these works to more than one smith.
Careful consideration to SUGATA for date is the constant
companion to appraisal. MOKUME HADA is thinly veiled in
JI-NIE. KO-NIE KO-MIDARE of KO-CHOJI with KO-ASHI has
SUNAGASHI and KINSUJI in a particularly rich and clear
NIOI. MEI in thick strokes.
YUKIMITSU KA-ROKU (f: KANEHIRA): KO-KISSAKI, strong FUNBARI,
KOSHIZORI TACHI. ITAME HADA has JI-NIE. NIE KO-MIDARE BA
resembling SOSHU YUKIMITSU where the SOSHU definer is
SOSHU style CHIKEI and the clear JI-BA that was to become
the school drive.
BIZEN: Two-character MEI.
