Suriage Mumei, Mune is wide and thick. Shape is Shinogi-zukuri with late Kamakura shape of Ikubi kissaki (boar's head).  It is tough to find existing blades in this shape as they were in fashion for a short period of time.  The blade has excellent Bo-hi with Soe-hi carving.  Jigane is fine Ko-Itame mixed with some Masame or Ayasugi formations (Kyushu-to).  There is with much Ji-nie and Chikei formations.  A prominant feature of this sword is the strong Nie Utsuri which goes the length of the blade (Oshigata from the Juyo Zufu shows its presence also.)  This Nie Utsuri is common with the Rai School, especially Kunimitsu.  Enju school has its roots with Hiromura, who was supposedly the grandson or son-in-law of Kuniyuki (actual founder of Rai School).   The Hamon is Chu-suguha with many ashi in classic Warabite (fern shape) form.  Excellent quality, bright Nie and Kinsuji are easily seen.  Boshi is strong and healthy Ko-maru form.

Koshirae is Handachi style with Kojiri MISSING.  Saya is black lacquer matte finish with shiny cloud formations.  Fuchi-kashira and Handachi fittings are Shibuichi in Ishime finish.  An interesting feature of the Koshirae is the Shakudo used in lieu of regular same on the handle.  The Shakudo is formed like ray skin with nodules.  Menuki are finely carved dragons in shakudo and gold of excellent quality.  The Tsuba is iron Sukashi with the radiating sun design with a cherry blossom in silhouette.

The blade is Juyo Token and listed in the JUYO ZUFU # 47 on page 145.  It passed in Heisei 13 or 2001. Mr. Tanobe, Head Curator of the NBTHK and Juyo Shinsa Team member, did the Sayagaki on the Shirasaya attesting to the qualities and status of the sword. His comment to the present owner at the time was that this blade had the finest Jigane of all Enju blades that had been submitted for Juyo Shinsa in ten years. Mr tanobei included the specification "Chin-chin Cho-cho" Extremely Precious and Rare
