TEN-PUKU 1233
MITSUTOMO KYU-AN (f: MITSUNAGA): Recorded in his line by the work
of his descendants.
MOKUSA BUN-EI: The environs of HIRAIZUMI is the famous and long
camp of the MOKUSA Group. NARA smiths of TAI-HO 701 first
came to IWAI-GORI at MOKUSA. It has been the center of
MUTSU sword production and national source of smith lines
and talent ever since. Many of its masters signed simply,
"MOKUSA." Encountered pieces will most likely originate
from the KAMAKURA period. SUGATA places time. CHIKEI
twists through O-ITAME that stands. JI-NIE is spotted or
"Dappled" along the JI. KO-NIE and NIOI CHOJI is
KO-MIDARE where SUNAGASHI is seen. Swords might have the
two-character TACHI-MEI placed just above the ANA.
CHIKAKIKU SHO-JI (f: DEWA ONIOMARU, br: GASSAN): RIKUCHU. Son of
ONIOMARU also called KIYOMARU, the originator of GASSAN
in DEWA. One would expect O-ITAME HADA with dappled
JI-NIE, KO-MIDARE BA and KO-GUNOME BA.
CHIKAKIKU
CHIKAKIRI GEN-RYAKU: RIKUOKU. Signature in KANA is possible.
MUTSU MOKUSA-HA CHIKAKIRI
RIKUOKU MOKUSA-HA CHIKAKIRI
CHIKANORI BUN-JI to TEM-PUKU: Two smiths are given in several
texts, allowing an earlier smith. The father was
CHIKAKIKU. This MUTSU line birthed GASSAN in DEWA from
grandfather KIYOMARU who is also called ONIOMARU.
Signatures may be in KANA. See DEWA

MOKUSAKAJI. Son of DAI-JI YASUFUSA. Only known piece.
SHINOGI-TSUKURI,IHORI-MUNE, KO-KISSAKI TACHI. BO-HI.
Standing ITAME with O-HADA mixed. YAKIBA varies: a
KO-GUNOME MIDARE has jutting TOGARI rises in the mid,
while "Bean" GUNOME in the lower and long KO-NOTARE in the
upper fall to the HA. SHIMA-BA like TOBI free themselves
in the MONOUCHI. NIOI falls deep as SUNAGASHI cuts the
HABUCHI. BOSHI smooths to a relaxed SUGU KO-MIDARE that
ends in KO-MARU.
