The Eight DO
SAIKAIDO - The Eight Roads of KOTO
"SA YASUYOSHI"
YASUYOSHI(1) SHO-HEI (f: O-SA): Lived in OKIHAMA but then moved
to NAGATO to found the NAGATO SA. He is said to have had a
constant influence for SA style, traveling to, or in
association with, the AKI SA at OHARU. One theory says he
is SA, having the same name, SAEMON-SABURO. SA becoming a
title of YASUYOSHI and his school generally. He certainly
was an active master spreading SA style throughout the
southern reaches of Japan, making a circuit through the
NAMBOKUCHO between AKI at OHARU and NAGATO, where
YASUYOSHI(2) is said to have resided and worked. A
YASUYOSHI MEI sharpens the eye. See AKI SA and NAGATO SA.
Like SA, he is known for his TANTO. They resemble his
father's but are wider and longer - NAMBOKUCHO O-TANTO.
A few with KOSHI-HI (grooves in the "waist"). In running
SHIRA-KE "White" ITAME with MOKUME. May have BO-UTSURI.
There is JI-NIE and CHIKEI. HAMON: More even height than
SA. NOTARE holds KO-CHOJI of KO-ASHI within, while GUNOME
juts. Occasional TOGARI on the tops is a YASUYOSHI theme
and CHIKUZEN appraisal point. May seem somewhat
populated, and perhaps "Swept." Japanese technicals
        usually reference O-KANEMITSU's GUNOME-CHOJI BA.
NIOI-DEKI YAKIBA runs with SUNAGASHI in thick bush-like
MURA KO-NIE and KINSUJI. The BOSHI is MIDARE-KOMI with
TOGARI, SA style (thrust and swept) or JIZO BOSHI.
        2nd YASUYOSHI to NAGATO.

HIRA-TSUKURI TANTO. KO-ITAME. KO-NOTARE is pushed and pointed from within. SA style KO-ASHI defines GUNOME competing for place. Like SA, the URA is brushed and swept with NIOI-FUKASHI and SUNAGASHI, over-powering the GUNOME definition. KINSUJI hides in KO-NIE. ASHI cuts worn ravines. The lower becomes subtly "Crowded" - SA YAKIDASHI style. BOSHI: MIDARE-KOMI with strong TSUKI-AGE and deep falling KAERI. UBU NAKAGO narrows directly to a small KURI-JIRI with one MEKUGI-ANA.
